What's the pressure required to lift the canopy?

Any body know? I'm wondering about per side. Is it 150 lbs or 200lbs? Any knowledge?

Pressure is psi. Most convertible top units are anywhere between 300 - 450 psi from what I've read. The top with glass is about 200 pounds, roughly (one of these days I'm actually going to weigh all the components..). So... give or take, 150-225 psi per side to lift the canopy, which is plenty!

Nic,
The total weight of the canopy (with glass) according to Dave was about 250 lbs.
While designing my canopy lifting system, I measured the lifting weight at the rear hinge point was 68.5 pounds to cause the canopy to start to move.
So I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info gents. I'm wondering if your average 3/8" braided stainless steel sink supply line is strong enough to use. It's compression and it's awfully pretty in stainless steel. I'm seeing an average of 125 psi max working pressure, which seems too low for our use.

Bummer.

No.. don't use the sink line :)... I'm not entirely sure that the interior plastic material is the same anyway. The 3/8 - 1/4" plastic high pressure line is cheap. Pick some up at a hydraulics supply shop.

I second that I think potable water lines are only 15 psi anyway.

I just walked into a local garage and they gave me several feet of the high pressure plastic line for free. To them it was scrap.
