Twisted Thinking

This I saw in a Toyota 4runner(I think)
Its a heater unit that's located between the front seats in the center console.

I wonder if you could use it as an AC unit.
Run the AC lines to it instead of water lines and use it as an evaporator instead of a heat exchanger. The core is made out of copper
Its super compact and I think the blower had only two speeds to it.
Didn't get any measurements from it.

Just thinking of you guy's who are looking for a simple AC unit to install

Might be able to find a small evap unit to retrofit into it. A regular heater core can't do a/c since the tubes are too large, and it needs a return capillary somewhere. Cool, though!

Interesting. I wonder if that squirrel cage fan come off. It could be remotely located and connected to the exchanger. I know the Subaru legacy's (90's) have pretty small evaps, and heater cores.

Good find Brett,...
