Treuhaft 32-1000 cam

Does anybody have full specs for this cam trying to find out if stock valve springs will be acceptable
on my rebuild I found 3 cracked valve springs which explains my popping
here are the specs I have but I need valve spring specs if anybody can help

Its a Treuhaft
32-1000 lift .400 duration 280 rockers 1.1 lobe center 106 open 34 close 66 intake / exhaust is 66 open 34 close

the valves i have that are still in tack measure 2.2 tall od. 1.25 id. 0.93 wire diam. .158

i can not find any valves that match these measurements. I'm sure that the height has shrunk

stock valve springs are about a 1/4 shorter.

I'm not the greatest at performance building, besides some possible valve float can I use stock valve springs

If someone can't answer that here, Dale, I'd pop over to the Samba, sign up and post the same thing on the engine/performance part of the forum. Give the rest of the specs on your engine as well - there are lots of really good engine heads on there.

Check for spring bind before you do anything. 1/4" is alot to change from stock. That maybe is why you have so many springs that failed. and if you have a higher lift cam than stock that would make things worse.
My factory service manual is packed for the move but maybe someone else can pull the valve spring specs for you. It should have the free length height, seated length height with pressure, open length height with pressure. If not I can find it by the end of the day and pull the info.

I'm sure pretty sure that stock springs will be fine.

Last night I got the bright idea to measure the length of the stroke between the the highest / lowest
point of the cam lobe on the intake and exhaust lifters. I found that the max. stroke for both is 3/8 of an inch == 0.375

So the rockers are 1 to 1 the push rod stroke would equal the valve stroke right...... 0.375

the stock valve springs are a little over 2 inchs so total travel would be only 0.375 correct

So the the longer valve springs are not necessary
???????????

Makes perfect sense to me, but I'm not an engineer, either. With 1:1 rockers and your total lift is under the stock spring height I see no issue. But that makes perfect sense that the other springs broke if they were higher than stock. Sounds like someone was going after a stiffer spring and thought a taller spring would be the way to get that... or they replaced some ratio rockers with stockers.

The specs you posted tell you what the stock rocker arm ratio is.

Thats 1.1:1 ratio not 1:1 and it just happens that the stock rocker arm ratio for a bug is 1.1:1

Lift should be .400 not .375 but I don't know if they added the .050 into the spec sheet. Some places do and others don't. Thats why it's nice to have the right tools for the job.

What are you using to get your measurments with. Please don't tell me a tape measure or a ruler.

I would check the push rods also. If there was coil bind, the push rods may have been damaged.


I checked the service manual on the springs and all it has is 117.3lb-134.9lb @a loaded length of 31mm. you would need a valve spring tester for that. You can get them for around $70 and the price goes up from there.
