transaxle mount bolts

Im needing a little help here guys/gals.

I was attempting to bolt my transaxle to the frame and I either never had them or I have misplaced them. But I have the bolts that connect the rubber bushing to the frame, but I DO NOT have the bolts that connect the rubber bushing to the transaxle. I am terrible about reading the feeler gauge style thread checkers, and the website that sales the mounts didnt have the bolts listed.

Please help me out.

That should be M8 x 1.25

With a few exemptions all the nuts and bolt you will come across on a VW will be M8 x 1.25 or M6 x 1.0 and a few M10 x 1.5, you will soon get to see differences by eye in time between standard, fine and course versions but they are rare..One thing you will never see is inches so keep your 1/2" bolts clear of your 8mm *thumbs up*

When you say rubber bushing are you talking about the transaxle mounts??

yes. i have some people telling me they thread into the transaxle and some people say they bolt thru the transaxle. my manual doesnt specify, but it does say you have to slide the engine back, separating the engine and tranny

My mounts have studs that connect the mount to the transmission housing

Ah ha! standard stuff.*laugh* I have the poly ones. hence confusion, easy done with us really old 'uns.*hmmm*

ok Bretts picture helps alot. i have the same ones Peter is showing, but Bretts proves my point. They bolt thru the case so you need a nut on the inside.

Is there anything special with the nuts?? locktite, nylon locker

PERSONALLY I use stainless steel bolts, screws and nylok, nuts whenever possible. When not possible a DAB of locktit is good, I use Nural 56 apart from exhaust flange nuts (brass) and a dab of copper grease.
