Subaru manuals

If anyone is in need of a subaru manual, I have most of them. This includes the JDM manuals too.

So if you buy a low mileage JDM subaru motor and transmission or USDM version to do a swap, save your money and contact me. I have nearly 4Gb of subaru manuals.

If you do, from my experience go for the low mileage JDM engine/manual transmission/ecu/harness combos. They're cheaper in the long run, and you get everything you need for the most.

Something like this
OBD2
JDM Subaru Impreza WRX EJ205 Turbo Engine ECU 5SPEED Transmission Diff 2000 2005 | eBay

OBD1
JDM 92 95 Subaru WRX Impreza EJ20 2 0L DOHC Turbo Engine AWD Transmission GC8 | eBay

Keep an eye on ebay, especially JDM engine importers. They often have years 2000 and up with manual transmissions, and the ECU with wiring for around 15 - 1700 bucks.

Buying a USDM engine will cost you more, be far more worn out, and in the end, be more work ironically....

Thanks for the information, I'm at the very early stages as I only got the chassis 1 day ago and haven't really done any research into the do's and don'ts or even which engines to go for and what the differences are.

Are the bell housings on the gearboxes for most the engine ranges the same?

I was initially thinking of buying a running car so that I could pull the engine, gearbox, ecu and all the wiring loom to be sure I would have everything. I also thought I would then pull the gauges and build the dash. Once I stripped the body of everything I could possible need I would then sell the body to offset the purchase costs. I'm not sure if this would work out cheaper than buying parts individually as I haven't done enough research yet.

From what I know,...
All EJ series engines that being EJ20, 22, 25, all have the same bell housing. The only difference is the turbo engines will have more bolts.

There is a difference in the transmissions. The TY52 is much weaker and will not tolerate a turbo engine. It will do fine with an NA engine. The TY55, 57 transmissions are very tough and designed for the turbo application.

I have a spare, clearanced and welded up TY52, with a TY75 mid section (uncut) if anyone is thinking of going to an NA Subaru engine. All you would need is the flipped diff kit (R&P and output flanges)
