YES! Bret I love seeing the project reaching the finish line yet I'm torn because I loved all the outside of the box parts of this build which are done. Well done!

Gorgeous. One question; if I recall correctly, you were going to change to a taller profile tires to fill the wheel wells. Is that still the plan?

The only thing I can think of was to go to a wider front tire and keep the aspect ratio the same.

The specs on the tire I have now says it is suppose to fit these rims but all though it does fit, the edge of the rim extends farther out than the side wall of the tire which I don't like. The rear tire doesn't do this so I'm ok with the rear tire fit.

Going to a wider tread and keeping the aspect ratio the same should solve this and because the tread is wider the diameter of the tire will increase a little giving me more ground clearance in the front.

I'll post pictures so you can see what I'm talking about

What a wild ride to follow your build. It was a pleasure to follow your progress. Your creativity, dedication and passion is evident in the final product.
I hope you are planning on somehow participating in the LV Formula 1 race activities this month.
Congratulations on a job well done.

Looking at a 235/40R17 to replace it with.

Its an inch taller and an inch wider

Got the seat belts installed today

First issue
Saw drops of oil on the left exhaust manifold studs. No signs of any leaks around it.

The fun never stops

Got on the DMV site and found that I'll have to smog the car.
No problem its fuel injected, well for some reason when reving the engine a puff of smoke comes out. That would be an instant fail here.
Its a new engine why is there smoke.
Checked oil level. That was too high so I drained some oil out.
That solved it sort of.
Hooked up the scanner and the bank 1 O2 sensor 1 failed.
I'll replace that and see what happens

Also the long term fuel trim stays at 0. That never happened. Maybe the O2 sensor will solve that

Getting closer to getting it back on the road.

Signed up with Hagerty Insurance, after the policy is active I'll get it smoged
Then it's off to the DMV to get plates.

Got on the DMV site and had no issues getting a temporary movement permit. It will allow me to drive the car for a month to get the necessary stuff needed to get the car registered.

That only cost me $1. Too bad I can't get one of those every month. It would cost only $12 for the year to drive it.

I hope to hear something from the insurance company this week for insurance.

I'm curious on how the car will do for the emissions check. I'll let you know how that goes.

I wonder how many Sterlings are still on the road.

Anyone know if Sterlings #1 thru #8 are still around

OK first issue to be addressed

At idle the water pump doesn't generate enough flow to circulate the water and the engine begins to overheat

Bring the rpm's up and it will circulate the water enough that the temps go down

If that's happening now there is no way the pump will circulate enough coolant in the hot summer that we have here to keep the engine cool.

Searched everywhere for a high volume water pump and no aftermarket company has one (that I've found).

I say after market because from what I've found is Subaru made a high volume water pump for their 1992-1994 turbo Legacy

It will fit my engine but a little modification to the water line going to the pump will be needed.

Don't know if it will fix the issue but I see no other options

Strange. I did fair amount of reading about cooling systems on Factory Five Racing site since their 818 kit uses Subaru engine in the mid mount configuration, and I do not recall many issues related to water pumps. Most issues reported were due to air pockets in the cooling system.

Still plugging away at getting insurance finalized.
I finally had to call them and talk to an agent. I was getting emails saying that I didn't fill out the application completely. Which was not true so I sent an email asking what wasn't filled out.

Talking to the agent I was sent an itemized document on costs of the car. This broke down body, interior, power train, etc. They wanted to know cost of materials and labor. I asked the agent at what labor rate they wanted on labor for 14 years.

They also wanted to know how many doors it had. I said define a door, it doesn't have your normal style of doors.
Any way it was an interesting experience.
