Well today I broke open the paint to see what it looked like.
Not really happy with it.

Color on the left is the eastwood color.
Color on the right is the Toyota 8P1 Blue that I was trying to match it to.

This is the image on eastwwod site for their color
The color in the image is close to what I got, so I can't blame them . Just shows you I have no eye for color.

Not sure if I'll go with this color. It has more of a green tint to it (I think) than I would like.

Eastwood has a $7 chart you can buy that gives you some paint chips for a sample. There are plenty of other darker blue color so for the sake of shipping times I would wait to make sure another doesn't fit the color you want better. Nothing worse than spraying the color you are already questioning.

I’m not glad that you’re having trouble with the paint but I was wondering about how turquoise that Eastwood paint looked. I like the darker blue better. I know you weren’t really asking for opinions. Said another way, I agree with you that the Toyota color is striking. 🙂

Thanks
Went to order that and the shipping was $11, so shipping costs more than the chart.
holding off getting it till I can come up with other items.

So this is your typical case of trying to save some money, but if I would have got the paint I wanted in the first place and spend a little more money for it, it would have been cheaper in the long run than now having to order another gallon of the less expensive paint which now has put the price over what the paint I wanted is.

Sometimes you just can't win.

I like this one on the left as it reminds me of my previous Challenger in B5 blue

…and I hafta admit the lighter blue looks great on that Challenger. Boy, tough call.

All I know is that on my own project I always know what my gut reaction is. Sometimes I try to ignore it. Sometimes it would mean totally re-doing a part or discarding something that cost a lot or took a long time to make.

If there is one aspect about doing my projects that I’ve consciously pushed to be better at it is to be at peace with trusting my gut more quickly. I figure any actualized wrong choice is just a necessary step in getting to the correct solution.

(Sometimes that’s easier to say than to live by.)

If you truly don’t love that color, just say a bad word or two and get the color you want. You deserve to love the color of your project when it’s done.

I can tell you without hesitation that I'm not in love with it.
I put the color up to the car and it doesn't look like it belongs on that car.
You can't see it but the Toyota paint when out in the sun has a deep rich look. (if that makes sense)

I'm not going to play this hit or miss game anymore. It will take a little time to recoup the money I spent on this paint and then save enough for the Toyota paint but I'm going with the Toyota paint.
So Paint will have to wait till I can save enough money to get the paint I want.

Ironically I was farting around on the Eureka FaceBook page tonight and I happened upon some unusually nice photos of a vivid deep blue Eureka. I know you don't play on FB so I just wanted to share.

Progress has stopped for now.

Getting caught up on projects around the house.

Maybe I'll get back on the car next week.

Wife has asked how much is left on the car. This can be looked at in 2 ways.

1. She's wondering when I will be able to address other projects around the house

2. She's wants to know when it will be ready for her to drive.

During this break I've ordered the 8P1 speedway blue paint. Not sure if a gallon will be enough, I've used over a gallon of primer so far.

Paint came in yesterday so you know I couldn't just wait to see how it looked.

I'm using the Devilbiss Dekup system and it works great except for one thing and I guess its my fault.
I used the same paint cup through the whole painting process. I had no issues except when I got to painting the last item, the hood.
I wasn't getting the paint coverage as when I started. I was putting down the last coat so I didn't think to much of it. Just thought I was running out of paint.
Went to clean everything and noted there was still paint in the cup, so why wasn't I getting full coverage. Well it turned out to be the filter screen. The paint was starting to cure and it was plugging up the filter. Next time I'll leave the filter out or use a new cup for each batch.

Ok here is what it looks like. Because of the issue with the filter the hood came out ok but not as good as the rest of the parts.
The color looks better in the sun
Not an expert job but its turning back to blue again Warren😄

Yup
Getting closer to having it painted and then getting it back on the road. I don't have any info when it was registered and drivable last.

Got just the side pods to paint (I hope to have that done today) then the main body and canopy. After that I'll start putting it back together and address any touch ups that needs to be done.

Monday one of the kids will be coming over to barrow my truck but what he doesn't know is he'll be helping me remove the canopy and setting it aside so I can get started painting the body

I've been painting everything with the DeVilbiss DeKups system. I've been using the 24oz cups to paint the smaller parts so far but I've ordered the larger cups (34oz) for the larger parts that need to be painted. Love this system, you can paint in any position and cleanup is super easy.
