Why would you EVER want to THIN out the epoxy?!? Do you think it's too thick?

With the high temps we have here adding a slow reducer helps the paint flow better, however I never used an epoxy paint so I don't know its viscosity or how well it flows.
The epoxy primer should be here by Friday. I'll know more then. If a reducer was needed or available I wanted to know so I could order that along with the epoxy primer.
Just got the primer coming.

Saw their recommendations for tips. That should give me a starting point. Didn't see anything on reducers though.

Been looking at paints. Came across one company that has reducer already mix in with the paint, Thats a red flag for me and I emailed them about it and you don't add a hardener to it. Thats another red flag.
However their clear coat does take a hardener.

Any body use a "T" trim between the body panels that bolt together. Just on the sides. Wouldn't look good on the front or rear panels.
I got chips on the edges of the panels (where the flanges are) and trying to repair all those chips would be a pain and no telling if they'd chip again when bolting the panels together

I am not a fan of the T trim or the glassed together options. I actually rounded the edges of each of the panel edge seams. My thinking was 1) wouldn't be as likely to chip and 2) looks a bit more like a factory car. I may be the only one that agrees with this thought though.

Thanks Will

Trying to figure out the best plan of attack to address the issue.
fiberglassing the sections together is not an option for me.
and I agree the molding idea isn't the greatest either.

I know if I patch or repair the chips, it wont be a permanent fix.

I was thinking of putting the sections together then use filler to fill in the voids and then scribe a crease down the center for when it does crack it wont be noticeable

I'll look into the option of rounding the edges

Thanks.

Sanding block and long strokes is what I did when I was testing the look out. Subtle and effective. Good luck!

Nothing much to report, just getting the car ready to be painted. (sanding and filling in pin holes)
Temps are to hot to paint anything anyway.

I would really like to get the color that I had planned to use originally (Toyota 8P1) but when finding someone that carries that color the price jumps 4X higher.
Eastwood can mix that color but like I said the price jumps 4X higher than their standard offered colors.

No biggie I have some time before the car is ready for paint.

Also the battery went bad, and that will be another $200. I may have to special order that because not too many places carry it. (Group 85) Again not in a hurry for that but when I start to paint the car I will have to move it.

Starting to spray primer on parts. In doing so there are some parts that still had pin holes so I figured I'd get some glazing putty to fill them in with.
Haven't bought it for a while but I couldn't believe the price that they want for it now.
$65 + $20 shipping for a small tub.

I ordered a battery from a local shop and they said it would be here in a few days. That was over a week ago and they still haven't called me to let me know its in. I try to give local businesses my business but with service like this I could have ordered it on line and had it delivered to my door in a couple days. Places like summit racing I can get in one day.

Vent time.

How hard is it to get the right battery when you give them the part number of the battery??
I thought I made it real easy for them.

They promised it would be here Monday, well it got here today (Thursday). No biggie as I said before I'm in no hurry.

When they told me the price ($100 more than what's on their web site) I figured something wasn't right.
Yup, it was the right group size but it was their top of the line battery not the one I ordered.
They lied that they had it in stock (at another store here in town) which is why it took longer than they said it would. They had to order it

Just don't understand people anymore. why he had to lie about having it. I wouldn't have minded if they had to order it. Then they got me the wrong battery

Group 85 isn't the most popular size battery so I ask if they could give me a break on the price or they could order the battery that I wanted. (I wasn't about to fork out an extra $100 for something I didn't order) I was hoping that they didn't want to put that battery back in stock.
Any way they gave me a break on the price ($60 off) and I got it.

Found some glazing putty at Summit Racing and they had free shipping so I got that

Ordered seat covers for the corvette seats. I'll let you know how that works out when they get here.

OK I'm done

Seat covers came in and installed.

I removed the back window from the box section because who ever installed it did a poor job and it didn't take much to remove it. Waiting now for the adhesive to reinstall it.

Getting some of the body panels primered.

Looking very good. Brett stay out of the heat if you can.
After a month of 115 + degree temperatures 105 degree temps feel nice.

Still too hot to paint though. Temps at night are in the mid 80's. By 9:00AM its getting close to the 100's

As I get older I've noticed it does take me longer to climatize to the summer temps.

Thanks
As you probably know it took several attempts before I settled on that design.

I discovered Rear valances that look good on other cars when put on this car just didn't look right and didn't belong.

This holds true with other redesigns that I did. All changes took several attempts.

Finished spraying all the parts with primer today. Paint has been ordered.
I'm going with a single stage paint. I considered using a 2 stage paint in the same color but it was almost triple the price.

After the primer has cured I'll address any imperfections.

Maybe by the end of October it'll be ready for paint.

First time since I've owned it that it was all one color.
Used a white primer. Didn't know how well the paint will cover so I went with a lite color primer
Canopy will be removed before I start to lay down paint.

Good progress! It’s weird to see it in white. I think of that as “Bret’s blue car.”
Don't worry, It'll be blue again once the paint arrives.

It may be a few weeks before it gets painted. Depends on my babysitting schedule and the weather. I got a medium speed reducer and activator for it thinking by the time everything gets here the temps would be lower. Looks like another week of temps in the low 100's to high 90's

Paint came in yesterday.
I got a couple small parts (light covers, engine cover) that I can test the paint on right now.

Maybe in a couple of days I can lay down some paint and see how it looks.

Still filling in pin holes and chips on the main body. Then the final sanding before paint.
