Awesome! I just caught up on your thread on Euronova earlier today. Huge accomplishment with tons of annoying hurdles!
Yes it definitely had its challenges. Some fun, some not so fun
I wasn't planning to do this install till the very last, but because the winter months were to cold this year to do fiberglassing I figured, what the heck it needs to get done so it turned out to be my winter project.

It's been awesome seeing your progress these past few weeks I've been back, keep it up. These posts will definitely be helpful in the future
My days of going through pick a part yards and coming up with new ideas are coming to an end. I have just a few things left to do and then I'm going to call it done.
It was one hell of a ride. ( over 14 years in the making)
Trying out new ideas ( some worked , some didn't)
Keeping motivated when things went wrong.
Meeting new people

Got the interior back together (some what)

The latest thing I'm working on is the sound system.
You may ask what could be wrong with that.

Well apparently some of fords sound systems don't come equipped with Fade control and on top of that there was no sound coming out of the rear speakers
Yes the wiring for rear speakers was wired correctly. Both rear speakers didn't work. I really don't feel like taking apart the dash to get at the radio.
All other features of the sound system work.

So just to save time and cut through all the crap I wired the rear speakers to the front speakers wiring and now I'm wiring in a potentiometer to control Fade from front to back.
I hate mickey mousing things ( also called other names) but I'm at that point where I'm tired of screwing around with things.

Got almost all mechanical and electrical done on the car. All thats left is body work and paint.
I thought to myself If I hadn't changed the side pods it would be ready for paint right now.

Started to get parts ready for paint or getting them ready to make molds off of them.
Rear spoiler just needs to be painted. Not sure if I'll use this or put the oem rear louvers back on.

I actually thought about this the other day Brett. I like the louvres but at the same time don't want to be stuck with big hinge holes if I want to remove it later. My solution was to do a spoiler/ rear visor that uses the hinges as mounts to give me options down the road.

Sounds like a good idea.
Mounted that way you could use the hinges to adjust the height.

Started making the mold for the front spoiler.
I had to use some old gelcoat that I haven't used for a while and after working with it I now remember why I didn't use it. It takes forever to cure and it doesn't harden completely
I had to put it out into the sun for it to cure.
I'll start laying glass tomorrow.

Got the mold made.
Excess glass has been trimmed off since these pictures were taken.

Temps have dropped so making the part will have to wait. Thats ok though, I ran out of resin. Placed an order for more.

Waiting on the weather to warm up so I can lay some glass and get the front spoiler made.

Also looking into changing the side windows a little.
I'm looking into changing how they open and use a different hinge system along with a different open and closing system.

Saw this and I was wondering if this has any potential of using it to open and close the windows on the car.
Its used on RV's to open and close the windows.
The plus side on this would be you can open the windows to any degree unlike the stock configuration that the window is either open or closed.
Its a very compact unit that wouldn't take up much space

Still waiting for these parts to arrive. Tracking says it'll be here Saturday. Must be coming by mule train. Thats our USPS.
Got the new windows cut and fitted. They're made out of polycarbonate, also called lexan. When cutting and sanding it doesn't melt like other plastics.
Still need to go to the pick a part and source out some hinges. As soon as I get a chance I'll do that.
I'll post pictures when I get something to show.

Looking forward to how the new hinges will work.

Those parts for the manual operation for opening and closing of the windows came in.
After trying different configurations I came to the conclusion that it wont work. At least the way I want it to.

So next plan is to install power windows that will open and close the windows via a switch.
Tried to stay away from this because I didn't to run more wires to the canopy but I guess I'll have to.
I already have it figured out on how it will work so there is a game plan for the install of these.

And for those that have to ask "what's wrong with the stock latch mechanism??""
Well nothing I guess if your happy with it.
People constantly ask for me to post stuff for inspiration, well here's something for inspiration. If people didn't want to improve on things and make it better we'd still be riding horses.

I'll post pictures as I get into it. Today I'm going to the pick a part yard to get materials for this.

Spent half a day wondering around the pick a part yard to see what options I have and found these

Also after looking for hinges ( almost all that I saw were of the spring metal type) I came across a hinge that you can remove the window completely with no tools.
If I can make it work on the car I'll post a picture of it.

I’m looking forward to seeing that hinge.
Progress has slowed down on the install of this.

Got the new schedule for babysitting the grand daughter and I have more days watching her now, Plus I'm trying to get a few projects around the house done before it gets hot. For those that are not aware of the temps here our summers here are in the 100 degree temps. I was in construction in my younger years and use to work in those temps all the time but now I have a harder time dealing with them.

I've been trying to glass the front spoiler and I hope to have it done today. I've had nothing but problems building this part. Luckly its a small part so the waste of materials hasn't been that bad.
I couldn't get the gelcoat and resin that I'm use to so I tried another brand and I've had nothing but issues with it. So now I'm trying another companies gelcoat and resin. After mixing up the gelcoat I noticed it was to thick to spray and I have nothing to thin it out with so I brushed it on. We'll see how well that works in a few days when I pull the part from the mold. It also cured a lot faster than the gelcoat that I normally use .

I’ve used a brush to apply the epoxy equivalent of gel coat on two different molds that I made. Doing so worked out 100% fine. I’ll cross my fingers that you have the same experience.

I'm not a big fan of brushing on gelcoat.
I'm not very good at it. I don't get an even uniform layer laid compared to spraying it on.
I have made the mistake of trying to spray a gelcoat that's to thick to spray. I know better not to even try to spray it now.

It was a hot day yesterday so maybe I'll pull the part today. I looked at it this morning and its starting to pull away from the mold. I guess this resin shrinks more than I'm use to.
Interesting how different the brands are. Differences in viscosities, curing times, shrinkage. Some look the same but there is differences.
