ok,my bad I didnt see the text just the pics on the one website. So I guess the sterling was the ripoff. I wonder why it never went anywhere. I love its looks other than the closed wheel wells. thanks for the correction, I guess you know your stuff Rick.

I don't think it was supposed to go anywhere. From what i read it was supposed to be a concept to test style ideas.

In the design process on my car I came to the realization that their is little that isnt borrowed, tweaked, or straight copied anymore. After months of trying what I thought were new ideas, each time I was shown how it looked like this or that model.
So I just stopped trying.:D
After all, without copy and improvements based upon a previous design, we'd all be driving model T's still. Right?

I think a blending of ideas, shapes and forms is a good way to evolve something.

I think though even to the untrained eye, a holden hurricane is still not a sterling, and vice versa. I think both are gorgeous cars.

The lifting canopy while startling, and very exotic, isn't the most practical method of entry, and exit for a vehicle. But thats what exotics are all about impracticality, and astonishing looks.
And both have this...

Actually, i would like to argue that the Hurricane Holden (at least that beautiful bronze one) looks like a McLaren - and the kit car that it reminds ME of is the Manta Mirage/Montage more so than the Sterling (take a look especially at those front fenders and the windshield - granted - the rear quarters are a little different...)

Point well said. These days its darn near impossible to create a new idea or look without it being compared to another.

It would have been difficult for the Hurricane to ripoff the Nova as it was a concept car presented to the public in '69. The design of the Nova/Sterling began the following year :).

in-genius engineering

the ONE thing that i truly enjoy about the H.H.C. is the steering column extension engineering design so that the steering wheel would lift with the canopy for a much easier entrance and exit to the vehicle. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/pic/4968/Holden-Hurricane_4.html Something to look at for my Sterling :)
