Soundproofing

Want to do some soundproofing to the chassis and want to know what people have done in the past.

Of course there's the standard dynamat/substitute, was wondering if anyone has done underbody coating. Would both be overkill? Thoughts?

I've found plenty of examples and have done some in the past so I'm familiar with it, just wondering what is best with our chassis.

You can't soundproof the chassis, but you can to the body. In a previous life I would have shot bedliner to the back side of the body around the cockpit, and/or stuffed fiberglass batt into the side pods. Lots of options out there, I understand that Lizardskin is one of the easier ones to apply both for thermal and sound proofing.

I meant something like this for the floor:

I'm thinking about doing the same all around the body interior, and doing the upholstery over on top of it. I'm curious about doing the underbody in bedliner or something of the sort as well.

I thought of doing the under body coat but more so to preserve it, sound barrior would be a bonus. When I did my buggy I got the midadlantic motor works insulation and carpit kit it worked out nice and looked good. I'll look for some pics

Sound proofing? what for, let it rip, hear the howl, feel the beast, an' all that stuff.*rock on*
I don't even have those mastic mats on the chassis floors, just carpet.

Carpet kit, both from midatlantic motors, this is the shortened chassis kit but they offer one for a full size chassis. There is also have extra carpet for drop pans you have to cut the edges of course but the floor will be sewn.

I have about a dozen 12x12 sheets of Phat Mat or similar. Im going to put one in the seat well, foot well and then in various places around the body; back wall, side panels, etc. I also have padding down under the carpet.

I have the thermal and sound proofing kit from lizard skin that I will be installing in the next couple of weeks. I plan to spray them both on the floor pan inside the car and on the rear firewall and window tunnel. If I have enough left then I will spray the insides of the pockets and front firewall as well. Then I also have the carpet pad with heat shield attached for the floor pan as well. I will post pics of the process when done in the 516 blog. I ordered mine from Speedway when I got a full up fuel fill like ratrog's to finish out my tank. Some slight mods on it to make it work.
