I found this ad on the samba:

its for three kit cars one is a sebring like mine. just in better shape. his prices for the other two look reasonable ( im interested in the sebring which has no price listed) its in conneticut. I messaged the owner for a price and will update when/if he gives me one.

if its low enough, I might be driving from GA to Conn to pick it up

best regards
Billy

If it's the same car - and it might not be - it belonged to an older gentleman on Long Island years ago. He was very particular about his cars, so I know his was near perfect. However, at the time, his had a Buick V6 in it and different wheels. But it's rare to see two Sebrings of the same model sporting the same Lambo style wing.

I'm on the fence over this one. Prefer a Sterling but this Sebring seems to be good condition (owner did say the laminate is peeling on the glass... Is that safety film?).

Windshields are laminated. As they get older, sometimes you start to see evidence of the layers separating on the edges between the glass. And windshields aren't available for Sebrings.

@letterman7 That's a major negative.

Is there list of "improvements" the Sebring design has over the Sterling? I tried searching on here and didnt find anything.

At the time, Bremen tried to meet all the safety regs of the day. So, it has integrated bumpers (though I've not seen them in person, they're probably just a bar welded to the VW frame), the canopy is taller with more head room and the engine bay is a little larger to accept V6 engines. There are no parts interchangeable with the Sterling on this model, which is the "Turbo", or Sebring II.

I happen to be in the process of removing the body of mine to transplant to new pan ill be leaving the bumpers out on my build. Here are pics of how the bumpers are mounted. What i can see. In front One bolt on shock support- two on body- on each side. In rear i havent found where the mounts dissapear to. Theres one on each side like the front- with a crossmember at the end. The bumper and body in the rear mount on two bolts. Both bumpers are just fiberglass forms.

About the same for the second generation cars from what I recall. Sterling quality varied quite a bit over the years.
