Remote brake fluid reservoir.

Hey all,

Here's one for the books. Due to the nature of the beast (as it pertains to custom vehicles) not everything always fits as it should. I know the brake system master cylinder can be modified for use with a remotely located reservoir, but does it have to be mounted above the height of the master cylinder. Never even considered this question with low pressure car brakes, as there was never a need to know. Consider that I make a living working on vehicles with closed systems that operate at 3,000 psi where that is not an issue. You can be brutal as long as you're factual.

Thanks.

As you say the VW setup is not a pressurised system, hence whether the reservoir is mounted directly to the master cylinder or remotely it relies on gravity to ensure the fluid flows to the cylinder. Hence it has to be above the cylinder for the gravity feed to work.

Thanks for the reply islandman. Turns out the reason for my question was invalid anyway...but you are correct. More details later.
