Thought I'd start this to show what I have done so far. I am using early Miata (91-94) mirrors and ended up with a few options for switches to control them.
First is the mirror switch from the same year Miata.
A number of early 2000's Fords have there switches. I pulled this from an Escort but also in Taurus cars and F150's. They are the same depth as the Miata mirror. It will be tight but would fit within the recessed section in the canopy due to it's angles.
Sticking with Ford, this guy came out of a late 90's (1998 or so) Contour. I believe they are also in the Mustang as well. What is nice about this is the mounting hole is circular and easy to cut anywhere. This would fit easily in the front section of the side canopy.
