That was great. I guess he put a bigger motor in it?
They said something about a 21 something something.

Yeah, no idea. I'm 99% sure it's the same motor. When the camera panned the thermo gauge, it was reading the exact same head temps as when I had it - #3 was twice what the others were *laugh*. He may have changed the exhaust or modded it a little, but I doubt it. I don't think either of them are that familiar with VW engines... if memory serves, the motor was a 2110... basically a 2 liter Type 4.

Karl Robbins · 7:37 It's one of those really bad VW kit cars running a air cooled engine lol.

Amanda Manick · 4:06 I don't care what kind of car that is, I think it's pretty fugly myself.

Those two have obviously never seen a Sterling in person.

There are always detractors in any hobby. I can't tell you how many times I've been at shows with that car to have people 'ooohhh' and 'ahhhh' over it. Then they find out what the base is and instantly turn up their noses like it was suddenly less than what they thought.

Believe it or not, I got involved with the Maserati Biturbos because of my Sterling. I bought an old junker with the idea of putting the lightweight V6 with twin turbos and liquid intercoolers into my Sterling. I then fell in love with the Maserati and had to buy two more of them. The one that I kept is actually a nice car. I did strip one of the Maserati cars to be sure I have an engine if the Sterling transplant idea ever comes to fruition.
