just bought body #629 on ebay. bill of sale only

Hello. My name is Bigheat or Mike, I am a teacher in LA and I build a few customs every year or so, usually for myself and than I sell them after a while and start another project. I just picked up body #629 that I scored on ebay today. it is a complete body no chassis, with a bill of sale only. What kind of problems am I going to have with DMV in California? I have built lambo kits before and one was titled as a fiero the other was a special construction. Did these body kits come with titles or did you use the title for the VW Pan? I will probably do something radically different with the body as I do with most of my cars. anyone have any history on body #629? any help would be appreciated. Cheers

congrats! I was going to bid on that one but had no way to get a car without wheels all the way to Pennsylvania. I'm sure Rick will chime in here soon about your questions. I'm sure if you need a chassis, Dave of Sterling Sports Cars would be happy to provide you one. Good Luck on your build.

Hi Mike! Somehow I missed that eBay auction - please post up photos when you get a moment. I'd like to get that on the registry. As for CA registration.. from what I understand about the process there now is you have to apply for a special construction title and CA only offers up a limited number every year. You can't use a VW title on the pan anymore. Our west coast guru Greg can guide you through that - he may even have a chassis already titled and ready to use. PM me for his number and info.

Thanks for the response. California i think doesn't really know how they want custom cars titled. I built an Aston Martin Replica on a Jag and it stayed titled as the jag no problems, the CHP said its still a Jag isn't it? didn't argue. When I did two different lambo lp640 replicas one got special contst. tags and one stayed as a 84 fiero, it just depended on if the engine was original or not. For the Sterling, I will get to that bridge when I come to it. anyway I posted some pics of the body at my house on the readers rides and if you want to put it in the registry thats cool by me. cheers Heat
