Got a little puzzle to solve.
I had the rear of the car jacked up in the air today doing a mod on the exhaust openings noticed a drip coming out of the strainer oil plug sending unit. I was not oil, not gas...............water.
I put a cup under it to catch it to see how much and what it was turned out to be about two table spoons of brownish water.
proceeded to open the drain plug got oil.
I'm using vavoline vr1 30 race oil because of the zink in it. I have change it a 3 times so far it always seems to be a greenish tint almost a little milky.
when I drained a little out it this time it was basically the same coloration.
My car has to sit outside I wonder if I'm getting water down the carbs.
I know the bonnet is not totally water proof and we have had some pretty severe weather lately.
1st does anybody else use this oil and does it seem a little greenish in color.
I just rebuilt the motor and I know the motor is clean inside or was when I rebuilt it.
before I rebuilt it i saw a little milky stuff in one of the valve covers dismissed it as condensation.
got to say im just a little frustrated*very frustrated* can anybody explain it
Going to change my oil again tomorrow.
Going to try another brand maybe synthetic i could a zinc additive.
I just wonder if the zinc in the oil is what is causing the funny discoloration
arg help *kicked my butt**whaah*
