Front Trunk Weatherstripping?

I'm considering doing a full rewire and was looking into putting the fusebox and such into the front trunk. However, there's no weatherstripping on there currently, and last time it was out in the rain there was more water than I would be comfortable with in the front.

Alternatively, where would be a good place to put the fusebox/wiring? Under the dash? Currently it's in the footwell and I've already kicked one of the headlight wires out at night so I'm looking to switch it up for sure.

Something like this is the dream...

There is really no way to waterproof the front compartment without adding a rain trough around the perimeter and associated weatherstrip. That involves sealing the headlight pockets on the sides and trimming the hood flanges. It can be done, many UK owners have completed that conversion. I personally just don't put anything in the boot that can't get wet :D.

My fusebox is in the same place yours is. Inconvenient and a pain to service. If I were to re-wire, I'd put the box on the passenger side on a drop-down panel under the dash.

That looks a very neat loom and something we should all aspire to.
I use what is known as a "Butchers knot" when looming and prior to any protective tubing, much more flexible than taping it all up.

You take some string or thick twin and tie a knot in the end, wrap it around the loom and half hitch a running knot. pull tight-sh and loop around the first knot locking it, then make a half hitch every half inch or so like a roasting joint to the end and tie off. I use the same thing on my PC wiring.

Letterman7, isn't your battery in there? We had rains recently and the battery was in a puddle.

Peter, that sounds perfect and way more useful than taping everything up. Any pictures?

Yep, battery sits in that little indentation. However, there are holes drilled at the rearmost corners, to allow any water to drain out. All it will do is drain onto the lower chin panel, and out the back.

Yep. Most cars already have holes drilled there. And you really want to get your brake fluid reservoir out of that puddle - it will seep into the brake fluid, if it hasn't already. be prepared to flush your lines.
