I use that system with the spiral cable and a single gearbox, the motor set to the left of the scuttle. I have a unit from a Mini but most older UK cars used that system rather than fixed links as today, I like the ones on my Mercedes A-class which are mounted either side of the screen and cross over to park in the centre. This can be done with rods or cable as in the kit, always difficult to get the sweep right using gearboxes and spiral cable as there are not too many ratios, two I think, so one would need to 'tune' the hole in the rotating gear of the motor unit and reverse one gearbox, but easy done..*nothing to see*
With the A-Class system or something like it, one would need to position the blade and arm in the upright location on the outer edge of the screen and see where the pivot needs to be on both sides, then see if they can cross over and lie horizontally OK, if so, then it's a matter of working out the reduced arm length and ratios to reduce the sweep and locate the arms on the spindles to get the right angles, easy. *hmmm*
Or...or a McLaren style one, I'm sure that angled arm is from a rear wiper I have seen somewhere. *hmmm*
