Complete Set VDO Jet Cockpit Gauges 1970's Vintage Kit Car Custom Aircraft | eBay

(PS. Yes, I know most of the Sterlings came with SW gauges. I included kit names in my ebay description as searchable keywords.)

I know our cars are not that fast, especially with Aircooled engines, but the speedo maxing out at 85mph just doesn't look right in a car like ours that looks like its doing 100mph just standing still

And unfortunately, without senders pretty much desk decoration. Both VDO and SW haven't supported their early gauges for some time.

On a side note... did you buy that car that was down the street from you??

Gauges and abandoned Sterling.

Perhaps. However, they sold for $375 this weekend! :) Not bad coming out of a car I paid $700 for. I've also got about another $300 in parts which I know could be sold and I don't need.

No, but I'm glad you asked. The owner of that house and car are no where to be found. I asked the guy across the street from him about it and before I could finish, "Do you know what's up with that car under the cov.....", he says, "Yes, just tow it out of there - please!!".

Apparently the owner parked a mint MGB there 20 years ago, put it under a cover and has not moved it since. It sits in the same spot, under a 20 year old cover. 7 years ago, the guy put the Sterling there right beside it, under a cover. Same story. The neighbor is sick of staring at them. The house has not been touched in 2+ years (sadly not uncommon for my neighborhood) and sits half-completed, wrapped in Tyvek. I might try to track the guy down and see if he can be persuaded to sell either of them. Despite the neighbors plea for someone to just take it away because he's sick of looking at it, I don't think the judge would accept, "but the neighbor said it was ok" as a defense.

*thumbs up* Someone wanted those! Cool, I'm glad you sold 'em. As for the owner... you could always petition the borough / township / whatever you're in that the cars have been abandoned (especially if the neighbor signs the petition) and you have the resources to rescue and remove at least one, if not both. Hell, I'd like to have a former mint MGB. Probably a pile of rust now, but I'll bet there are still some salvageable pieces there. You could also check to see if there are liens on the property - I'll bet the bank would love to recover some of it any way it could. Of course, there wouldn't be a title in either case.
