Cimbria SS build Aka MG_1 SRC

So I got this about 2 years ago 1 year and 11 months to be exact. At the time I just finished my first build or rebuild it was a yfz r1 that I crashed 3 days later after getting it. But instead of letting it die since it was a limited edition I said why not rebuild it. And I did exactly that after finishing it at the time I had a brand new Camaro rs and was disappointed with how the car preformed so with my limited skills I was like if I can build a bike wire it build a custom chassis why not build a car that will preform perfectly how I want it to and the build began. At first I was actually planning to build a buggy ish type of car, a car that can do everything and when I was doing so I came across this body at the time I didn’t know what it was or where it was from but instantly fell in love with it so I modified the frame that I had built and welded up already modified to fit the Cimbria ss body. (I’ll post the bike I built below wasn’t the best but never the least I loved it)

Anyways the beginning of the build. Like I stated before when I first got the car it was just a shell but I was lucky enough to get everything with it except the trunk cover. But the doors the dash and the original glass windows I consider my self a lucky guy. And since it was just sitting at a storage unit I got to fit my custom made frame directly on it put some wheels on it and finally brought her home. The realization of how much work was actually ahead of me started to settle in. The first thing I did after getting it home was painting the frame and effort to keep it from rusting as I knew it would be sitting for a while but that only went so far

I took a little inspiration from @sector as far as redesign my frame I hope that is okay mate. But I thought I knew what engine I wanted in there so I went with a vq35de at first considering how much power those engine can make stock. I was satisfied with it at first and move on to making the interior as the door were empty so I started drawing to see what I’d want the interior to look like since I work at a car shop I was lucky enough to be driving the latest and greatest car to come out fresh of the dealership kinda took a little bit of inspiration from allot of different cars

Now since I had everything planned out it was a matter of building. Since I had the factory dash board. To shape it into the dash board I wanted I first thought adding a bunch of layers of foam would do it and the I can sand it out to shape then fiberglass over it. But part of doing that I forgot that that fiberglass resin heats up to dry and if ate up through the foam. After learning my lesson and wasting a day or two I did it over but this time put a metallic tape over it to keep the resin from melting the foam

A couple days later it was done it was solid enough for me to start spray painting it and adding body filler to finalize the shape at this point and time I also started making the door cards. I’ve also decided that using carboard instead of foam would be more cost effective so I stop using foam moving forward.

Allot of trial and retrial later I was happy enough to start finalize the interior after finished the fiberglass that I added a thin layer of foam sheet on top to give it that soft feel and then upholster it at the time I was still planning on using the vq35de so why it had a 350z speed cluster. Btw I lost all pictures of the actual frame design but here’s some pictures of the front as I was planning to put the fuel cell in the front to add more weight to the front. It’s a mess but I just wanted it running so I can see the cars characteristic and rebuild the whole front frame and suspension

The start of overengineering the simplest things.

At this point I was getting ready to start making engine mounts axles and wire her up to hear her start for the first time. But I quickly realize that the v6 engine was to wide and the diff output was to far back to align with the wheel hub inputs so I pulled it out. At this point considering how light the car is I was thinking of putting a twin turbo hayabusa engine with a small motor to assist the lack of torque and function as reverse. Also I lost the pictures of my frame but this is an accurate enough digital version of what the frame is design like and what I was planning to do to fix the engine in. Plus some cool render I’ve made of the car in a video game not totally accurate but enough to make me happy and keep me motivated to finish this build

While waiting to find a perfect transmission design to pair both the electric motor and hayabusa engine together knowing that I’d have to run a fully aftermarket ecu regardless of what engine I pick I decided to focus on other things to keep the build moving forward. Completely redesign the speed clust along with making air vents to bleed out excess air trap in the front. Also decided that making my own carbon fiber and fiberglass bucket seat would be the way to go. Safe to say I had to much free time on my hands also started working on making lexan windows since I didn’t want to put glass in the door making the heavier along with designing a mechanism for them to go up and down also started remaking the passenger door cards

Were I currently am now. So i put everything aside by focusing on the goal to get the car running and on the road before February of 2025. As far as engine wise I decided to go with a k24 goal is to boost it and make a bit over 500hp but with the engine sitting longitudinal while using the factory trans with a loc diff where one end of the shaft will be connected to a Nissan leaf motor or a electric motor to keep my hybrid goals and the other end out to a diff that will power the rear wheels. Haven’t touch the car since finishing the dash as I wait for the engine to get to me. As far as what I want the exterior of the car to look like this is it along with some pictures of how I think the drivetrain will work. But of course planing something to go one way never means it will go that way in reality. Btw excuse my lack of proper grammar

Thank you guys for the replys, will post some more updates soon as the engine isn’t far away. Also if any of u guys are interested I have 3d files of the sterling kit car that you guys can use to print a 3d model of the car which u can use to modify on a smaller scale then the actual car I also have gotten my Cimbria ss scanned a while back I use the scan of the car to make some more accurate renders of where I want to go with the car. I wanted a wallpaper :) Cheers enjoy hope everyone here had a wonderful Christmas and a even better new year sadly I’ll catch you guys next time

Hi there. I would like to get a copy of the scan of the sterling and the cimbria ss. I have a Sterling and a Cimbria ss. Was wanting to do some modifications and like to use the scans to do that. Also what software do I need to use the scans? Thanks Ken
