Canopy wiring

Posted this in my build but thought I'd put it here so it's easier to find.

Came across another one of those connector strips. This one is a little different, It has a lower profile and has 8 contacts.
It came out of a 2000 Mazda MPV. This vehicle has a left and right side sliding door(which is where they are found) so there are 2 sets of these per vehicle.

If your canopy requires more than the 8 connections then install another strip on the other side and you'll have a total of 16 connections. I can't see anyone needing more than that.

Any more of those MPV's in your junkyard? :) I pulled one from an older caravan but that is a real nice slimline one. Similar to the painless ones but more connections available.

I pulled just the drivers side so the passengers side should still be there and according to their inventory list there are two more in the yard.

I think I"ll go dig around my local yard just in case. I do know that Painless has some around still but these look a bit more appealing.

Sometimes I feel the stuff I post falls on deaf ears and wonder why even post.

Let me know if you want me to pull one for you. Don't know when my next trip to the yard will be

Yes but I think these are lower profile - for $5 though I could ditch low profile. :) I am hoping to get out of work early enough to make it to the local yard today. I need a new power mirror switch and while I'm there I'll dig around the minivans.

I favored the oem stuff.

Quality has always been better than the after market and attention to details is usually better.

Case in point
Plastic looks better in the oem and they have a foam or rubber seal to protect the contacts

Keep up the posts! I just noticed how slow the traffic is here. Admittedly, I don't come that often. I have two other enthusiast cars and I realize now that I tend to focus on one at a time and spend more time on the applicable website at those times. Now I'm obviously focusing on the Sebring. I did a lot of deferred maintenance and fixes this weekend. No one looking at it could tell. But, I know. I'm still struggling with the decision to pull out the V6 and put in the VW. Right now, after doing a few things this weekend for the V6 installation, I'm leaning towards keeping it.

Anyway, what is the point of these switches? Windshield wiper? Powered mirrors? I have a flexible tube that is attached to one of the Sebring top arms that all the wires go through. Is that not available for Sterlings? Or is this just to make it more slick?

Its for mirrors, wipers and any canopy lights if installed. Yes you can go via flexible piping inside the hinge arms as I have also done on my first Nova. However it can be a pain disconnecting everything to remove the canopy, and even more of a pain to unthread the wires out of the hinge bars to remove those. So what Brett has found is far slicker, and I will be going this route on my scooby Nova*thumbs up*
