Buitl in seats

I was curious, given the original fiberglass buckets are a rarity for these cars, and every struggles to find a set of seat that actually fit the car, has anyone ever thought about designing the seats into the interior, rather than the typical attempts of added aftermarket ones?

Something kind of like this:

Just a thought. The owner/builder could actually design the seats into the interior as an integral piece, rather than a separate item. The frame work could be made of wood, or even steel/aluminum tubing. It might allow for much thicker padding and increased comfort in the long run.

Not a bad idea, though the rear of the cockpit might be further back than most drivers are tall. That idea may be explored with my other car since the mid-engine layout leaves little room for any sort of seat. At the moment I have mini van middle seats (from a Dodge, I think. And they are couch comfy!), but even then I can't recline them far before I'm into the engine. With some careful measuring, I may be able to use the space to either side to form a backrest, but I'd still need some sort of fore/aft movement with the back moving with it.

the challenge i could see with that, is peoples skill level around a sewing machine. i have taken alot of hot rodder builder classes, and watching the upholstery class left me scratching me head.

it would look total badassery though.

You woulld need to have the pedals and steering wheel adjustable and fix the seats, I did drop the black leather rear seats from my Mercedes Cosworth into my SS, didn't fit but it look good.

Been done a couple of times - Corv-8/Crown conversion and Deserter GS buggy. Definitely saves room in the cockpit (and weight!), a little slim on adjustability.

Maybe some kind of combination? Fixed side bolsters, but adjustable seat bottom and back?
