Body to chassis flanges

The flanges around the edge of the body, to the chassis, seem really large.

Has anyone trimmed these a bit? Thinking mostly of the flange near the Nap. hat.

The SS doesn't have the extended bits over the tunnel and Nap hat, just flat on the gasket joint, so trim away. I have also 'relieved' the flange in the area of the seat tilt handles back to the bolt line and radius it from the floor pan to the bolt line to smooth the carpet line.

Yeah, some are fairly sturdy. You can trim to the frame along the outside; I personally would leave the napoleon hat section and along the back as formed as possible - they are the only support (at least, in the rear) for the rest of the car body.

What are your reasons for wanting to trim the flange? I found them helpful when mounting the body back to the pan.

Hi Pog,

Just wanted to clean things up a bit. The overhang is what I would call excessive in places, like the driver and passenger foot wells.
