Engine Compartment
Finished up the remote coolers. Everything is wired and plumbed. Fan is thermostatically controlled and on a relay per the suggestions that came with the thermostat. Also got the engine wiring connected along with the relay for the starter. The engine compartment is near finished!

What's this? the oil filter remote on the left inner wing? too much bro'*thumbs up*
Love the muffler, a pair of those would be awesome on mine instead of the GM ones from Opel. Who makes them, are they on Ebay? *oh my*
What do you have on the wheel side of the cooler to stop stones,crap and boy scouts getting into the cooler or is it not open?

Muffler / spark arrestor can be found here. They are available in a few different lengths. These are pretty popular in Baja setups. I do like the sound they produce. I agree that 2 would look pretty cool. For my header set up, one was just so much easier.

As for the cooler, if you look a couple of posts above, I have filled in the holes in the fenderwell. The cooler mounts about 2 inches off the surface. The fan will draw the air through the cooler without any problem. I have a second cooler in the front of the fenderwell which does not have a fan and has air forced through from the side scoop. Its a mesa style cooler which is steel so no worries about stones. Yes it may get dirty but I don't plan to off road my Sterling any time soon, so a light rinse from time to time should be adequate. 2 coolers might be a bit much in some states but I'm in Florida where its always pretty hot. Plus the added load of the AC system will create some additional heat in the summer months. I'm not sure how the system it will perform but I will post updates as the car is driven. One of the added benefits of the 2 coolers and the plumbing between them is the added oil capacity. I suspect the 2 coolers, the filter and all the hose will add an additional 2qts of oil to the system. The fan on cooler #2 is on a thermostat so I don't see a problem with the oil getting to the proper operating temperature. I have a pressure gauge, temperature gauge and idiot light so I should be able to monitor the oil quite well.

Got the last of my carpet fitted and cut this evening. I hope to bind the finished edges and glue it in tomorrow. Once that is done I can install the dash for what I hope is the last time. Will try and get the pedals and steering column reinstalled tomorrow. If all goes as planed I should be able to call the interior done tomorrow.

Loving the clean look, going to be stunning when it's all in.
I am still struggling with getting the two side pods right on mine and the electronics sorted for the transponder/key/button set up. hey Ho more fun.

Yes they are from a local retailer Walmart $25. They were a quick and simple solution and I like the look.

A sub would have been nice but I really didn't have the space. I'm so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to audio, so I really just choose the basics. I have never been much for car audio because I hardly even listen to the radio when driving. The components were not very expensive and surly get the job done. One thing is for sure, the amp kills the battery in a hurry. Maybe its because the battery is old but I haven't gotten that far yet to figure it out.
9 days and counting until Bugjam 2017.

Got the pedals installed, brakes bled, clutch cable adjusted and the throttle cable attached.
Got all my carpet bound and glued in place. The interior is very close to complete.
Just a quick photo of the VDO gauges. I added red diffusers to the bulbs to reduce the glare in the windshield. I love the look of the red back lighting.

So close.
Not sure I will be 100% for this weekends show but no matter what it's going.
I put about 50 miles on the car tonight making sure it's road worthy. I have a right front caliper not doing its job properly. Not sure I will get to replace it before the weekend. Also need to adjust the rear brakes a bit. Over all its running and driving very good. 50mph at night feels like 85!
Windshield and side windows were tinted yesterday and look great. I will be making a dash mat to reduce the glare from the dash. The quick release hinges for the side windows work very good. I made a new tinted lexan rear window and got it installed in the tunnel. The original glass window didn't fit so great and after screwing around with it for a while I broke it. Just as well I like the tinted lexan better.
After a bit of time in the seat its actually pretty fun to drive. Seating is very comfortable, I have plenty of headroom, steering is tight and responsive and gauges easy to view from the drivers seat. Suspension is a bit rough but not bad for a 50 year old VW.
I have a few pieces to paint tomorrow and will get them on the car on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to the weekend being over. I hate the pressure of trying to get things finished on a deadline.

Last of the body parts.
I really wish I had not waited so long to paint the last few body parts. I will be installing them in the morning.
Car looks really good in the driveway. I put a few miles on it again today while running some errands.
I got all the wheel wells painted today, wow what a difference that makes. It really cleans up the entire look.
I also got the brakes working as they should now. One piston on the right front caliper was stuck. Easy breezy fix and now it works good. I do think a proportioning valve might be necessary as the fronts lock pretty easy with hard braking.

The colour scheme, tinted windows, white wall tire lettering all add to the "bad ass" look. I'm sure you must be very pleased
I would almost be tempted not to put your side scoop covers on as it looks good as it is
Thanks David, I am pleased with how it has turned out.
Scoops have to go on, I already have all the mounting holes in the body. I do think it will complete the look once everything is attached, I'll know tomorrow morning.
The car has come out like I had envisioned. I may have changed a few things slightly, but overall I am happy with the finished product.
