  2. Cimbria SS

I wonder if a wiper assembly from the back of a SUV would work. Those have to be compact to fit in the space provided You would have to mount a longer wiper arm to get the coverage needed for a sterling or Cimbria. Just a thought if your looking for something different. Maybe do a search to...
  3. Can someone post pics of their hinges?

First redesign of the arms I made, I think about 4 different styles. This one was replacing the bushings with bearings. If this was done to the stock arms (I made all new ones) the ends would need to be cut off and a larger section of tubing would have to be welded on to accept the bearings...
  4. Cimbria SS

When I was going through the pick a part yard I came across a few of those. They are not a very compact unit and the wiper arm seemed to short for the sterlings windscreen. On top of that I don't know how you would install it in a sterling
  5. Cimbria SS

To get them to park in the center should be no problem Just reposition the arm that mounts to the motor. (you must have the spline shaft style to do this) Not sure if adjustments to the rest of the linkage will be needed but I see no reason why it couldn't be done.
  6. Can someone post pics of their hinges?

One side measures 38mm, other side measures 39mm This is the oem american version. European version may be different. Lifting arms are the round version Later in my build I made a stainless steel version. These are the original brackets that came on the car
  7. Cimbria SS

Looked at the assembly manual and they show only the pantograph style wiper install. That doesn't mean you can't install a different style. Quick thoughts to install a dual system are relocation of the motor and coming up with a different linkage system and new mounts for the wiper arms I...
  8. Engine ECM's

Out of curiosity I was wondering when Subaru started to integrate CAN into their ECU's reasoning behind this was that the ECU will need input from other modules for the engine to run properly. (If it would even run without the CAN network connected) What I found was in 2008 CAN was...
  9. Making it harder to register your car

Perfect example of how broke the system is Spending time and money on a piece of stupid legislation that will never be enforced.
  10. Making it harder to register your car

I wonder if this was the thinking process for changing the year of my car from a 1967 car to a 1983 car. Figuring a car from 1967 won't pass a 1983 car smog test. In my build I kept all sensors that came on the engine and fuel system and didn't omit anything.
  11. Making it harder to register your car

You would think there is more important things to be addressing than this.
  12. Making it harder to register your car

Came across this and thought it will affect registering our cars With my car they changed the year of it from a 1967 to a 1983 car. So, if I had a 1967 bug engine in it, it probably wouldn't pass smog now. Depending on what state you live in there may come a day when you can't register it.
  13. Sterling #S009

I worked for the government for over 30 years and came to the conclusion that, if it was a private business there is no way they could stay in business. They wouldn't make it a year before they would have to close their doors. And as the years went by people got lazier and dumber. As for my car...
  14. Sterling #S009

Just to give you the stupidly of things. At the inspection station they wouldn't OK the VIN, even thought it was correct. The gal at the inspection station spent about 30 minutes on the phone with her supervisor, got off the phone and told me the title was wrong. Its suppose to read a replica...
  15. Sterling #S009

I guess it depends on who you talk to here. I had a Nevada title and on the title it had the car listed as a "kit". Right on the original title. When I Had the title transferred to me and it still had "kit" on it. DMV requires to have the VIN checked before registering the car. Thats when the...
  16. Sterling #S009

Just got a reminder from the DMV that I need to smog the car and renew the plates Doesn't feel that the car has been on the road for a year. I don't see any reasons why the car wont pass smog. When the issues with the title got resolved I was told that I didn't need to smog the car any more...
  17. Sterling #S009

    (y) Just trying to help the Subaru members out from getting frustrated with getting trouble codes that wont go away. Also I know some members are using GPS for a speedometer and the results from not using a speed sensor will hinder performance.
  18. Sterling #S009

This might be helpful to other owners with Subaru engines. Mine is a 1998 EJ25D and maybe this might help if your getting trouble codes. I didn't log the codes so I can't tell you the exact code I was getting but it had something to do with the transmission and the neutral position switch. By...
  19. Kids Today

This does not apply to all kids I was out washing S009 today and a young gas company employee was out doing his route, and he noticed me washing the car. Totally intrigued with the car it sparked a conversation on projects he was working on. The most interesting thing about our talk was he had...
