  1. Cimbria SS

Yeah, I already went a ways down that path. I bought two C4 seats and the recline mechanisms were rusted/broken. Not a lot of options up here in the RustBelt. I've already made heavy mods to my current seats, which now only need pretty seat covers. BUT, if there was a drop-in option, I'd...
  2. Cimbria SS

Thank you for your detailed reply! Those seats look SO narrow, but they're still too wide for my car (and I really love how the headrest tilts forward). This goes to show just how LITTLE room we have with dropped pans in the factory chassis...I would need 16.5" max to fit. Your custom chassis...
  3. Cimbria SS

After seeing your recent pix, I looked closer at your seats and got REAL interested. What are the base dimensions? Width at the hinge point of the back section? Thanks!
  4. Im in need of a rear window tunnel.

    I do not.
  5. Sterling #130 (aka American V8 ~ Chapter 2)

What better time to test if the car will fit on the trailer than 1 hour before the start of the show?! lol As expected, things didn't go as smoothly as I hoped. I turns out that the 1.5" lip of the trailer is too high for the Sterling - even if the ramp is only 4 degrees. The car got its...
  6. Cimbria SS

love, Love, LOVE the Copper! :D (not surprising that I would like it though, considering the color of my Sterling...and my Jeep is Mango Tango Orange! LOL)
  7. Sterling #130 (aka American V8 ~ Chapter 2)

Tank is relocated to directly above the transaxle. Pickup is on bottom of the tank, so draining it would involve dumping gas on the transaxle (assuming the "missing" 5 gallons would come pouring out when I pull the pickup out of the bottom). Another possibility: the missing 5 gallons...
  8. Sterling #130 (aka American V8 ~ Chapter 2)

I need to go back and look thru my old pix, but my current "hunch" is that the "fuel line connection" at the bottom of the tank is too long. I made it from a piece of flared brake line and a brass nut; maybe the line is sticking up too far into the tank. If I can find the pic, it might tell me...
  9. Sterling #130 (aka American V8 ~ Chapter 2)

follow up on the pulleys; old pulley on the top, new on the bottom. you can see the slight difference in how much belt is "in" the pulley groove.
  10. Sterling #130 (aka American V8 ~ Chapter 2)

Been awhile since I updated... I looked at the alternator pulley again and noticed that the pulley was "shallow" - not much of the V-belt was sitting down in the pulley valley, so I swapped out the shiny new pulley for the old alternator pulley which seemed "deeper". The belt now sits about...
  11. Corvette CX

Gee, what a "unique" way of getting in/out of the Corvette CX concept car! Look familar to anyone here? LOL https://www.thedrive.com/news/the-corvette-cx-concept-is-the-north-star-for-the-future-of-americas-sports-car
  12. Sterling #130 (aka American V8 ~ Chapter 2)

Update.... This spring has been a b!tch with "back issues", so driving the Sterling has been low on the Possible Activities list. I finally took it for a 2.5 mile spin around the neighborhood a few weeks ago to test the brakes and battery. No problems! Yay! Then I took my wife and dog out...
  13. Withdrawal symptoms

more like "that part you installed a decade ago has gone bad while sitting in the garage..." or "that part was defective when you installed it, but you didn't know it until you started driving the car..." at least that's how MY experience has been! lol
  14. Withdrawal symptoms

No, it's not totally over - now you get to drive it and fix the stuff the breaks as you drive it! lol
  15. The Wedge Revolution: Cars on the Cutting Edge

"The Wedge Revolution: Cars on the Cutting Edge” is opening one month from today - August 2, 2025 Will there be a Sterling in the exhibit? https://www.petersen.org/wedge-exhibit
  16. Hood Lifting

I decided to KISS and just make a smaller, less obvious finger lifting hook for the front corner. I took some 3/32" stainless steel welding rod and bent it (ow, my hand still hurts) as shown below. Simple, but effective and barely noticeable when open or closed.
  17. Im in need of a rear window tunnel.

    DM sent to Aschollen
  18. Hood Lifting

I have a different, wider, thicker radiator now, so the gas struts are gone. same hinges though. You can kinda see the "cutout" for the former latch in the aluminum headwall...
  19. Hood Lifting

Good idea, but Unfortunately I only have pin locks at the back of the hood by the windshield. Installing spring-loaded poppers would kick the front of the hood up all the time. BUT, it makes me think...I wonder if there is a Manually activated Popper that I could install, then activate with...
  20. Hood Lifting

Does anyone else have trouble getting their hood open? My hood has springs to keep it up once open, but has to be manually lifted into position - which isn't very often (I don't open it at shows or anything). SInce I use unequal-length-arm hinges on my hood, I can't just lift and pivot - I...
