Hello team,
Count me in on the Sterling Owners Society! Im Luke Ashlocke,
A comedian, Actor, and a part time stripper when the going gets tough. I was raised by a pack of wolves in Montclair, CA and boy, oh boy do people look at me weird when im tearing a live rabbit to shreds for dinner whilst driving in my Sterling Nova! Gosh, you'd think they've never seen a sterling driving down the street with the top up and a man, covered in small furling blood waving back at them before. Ha! Yes this car does get some looks, eh?
And gosh damn, every time a cop pulls me over for defacating off the side of my Nova while parked in the sand box he always asks to buy it. You guys get the same thing huh?

Ahhhh ok,
But for reals..
Guys I own #0269 and you may hate m e for this but, she's NOT STOCK! Ive dragged her into the modern age. Backup camera, touchscreen deck, 15" subwoofer, 4, 6.5's, 2 1800W amps, leather interi0r, motion sensors, GPS, and completely hands free. 22" Milani Chrome 5 blades, custom paint, my hood and boot open automatically, and ive got remote start..

PLEASE DONT HATE ME..

I just like what I like.

Peace, love, and blessings to aaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwlllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Very cool. I thought I was crazy by going with 19" wheels, but yours work well too. Are you going to lower it?
No. Lol, I had to lift it for the 22”’s
But I’m having some custom fiberglass mods and some steel framing built now.
I like to do the customizations because it makes it more one of a kind to me
Like if I show you my 77 Corvette it looks like the freaking Batmobile lol

Upgrade to disc brakes on all 4 wheels. Right now you have twice the rolling mass on bearings that were only meant for 14" wheels and tires. Upgrading will at least get you stopped in a reasonable distance, but plan on replacing your wheel bearings every year if you drive it regularly.

Hi Luke! Welcome to the group. Thanks for bringing another Sterling back to life. (Feel free to start a "Builder's Journal" for follow-ups if the mood strikes.)

I enjoyed your videos; that's definitely an entertaining format to document a rebuild. (I need to remember to play more guitar in my videos. Or perhaps ukulele.)

Yeah, I don't think anybody will give you too much grief about modifying your car. Honestly, modifications to kit cars like the Sterling are the rule, not the exception. Yeah, it's cool to see a nice example of a "stock" Sterling Classic, but I actually like to see the cars being updated as well. And while I think It's minor sacrilege when people modify their car's body to the point that it can't be recognized, you haven't done anything like that.

That said, I *did* notice towards the end of the one video that you had taped out an area for flame graphics on your car. I, too, have a car with flame graphics -- in my case in the interior -- which I frequently and relentlessly make fun of. I pre-apologize for any teasing I might feel compelled to do. (I also have a monster-tuck Kelmark with actual flame-throwers on it so...living in a glass house.)

But no, seriously, I like a lot of the modernizations. Probably all of our cars should have back-up cameras. Almost all of our cars need new interiors. Updated lighting is always good. Most of our cars could benefit from modern wheels. Statistically speaking, some of our cars need flame graphics. Not a lot. Only a very small fraction. Tiny fraction. You're bumping up against our mandated quota. ...But you're still good. :)

Again, welcome. Looking forward to more posts. (y)

Thanks for the advice. Where can I find the disc brake conversions ?

Hahahaha, well you're funny so guess what? We are best friends now!
I decided against the flame graphics. (im straight) But, I did wire two grounds together and somehow started a fire if that counts? Im currently trying to track down the lift system for the top, you know anything about that? Or, do the flame graphics do permanent damage?
